All Vegetation Control on Cane River Lake is conducted by the Cane River Waterway Commission and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Riparian Owners and the public are not permitted to treat the waterway. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Cane River Waterway Commission have Vegetation Control Plans for Cane River Lake. The biggest challenges are the balance of vegetation control measures between riparian owners, navigation, and fisheries. The two plans parallel each other and both agencies work well together creating a waterway enjoyed by all.
